Feelings
Why criticism can hit so hard, and how to build a fairer view of yourself.

In one minute
Many adults with ADHD grew up being told to try harder, pay attention and stop being so careless. Over the years, that can harden into a harsh inner voice: I am lazy, I am a mess, I always let people down.
Many also find that criticism or rejection, even a hint of it, hurts far more than it seems to hurt other people. The feeling arrives fast, lands hard and can take hours or days to fade.
Neither is a character flaw. Both are common, both make sense given your history, and both can be changed with practice and the right support.
