Treatment
The medicines we use, what to expect when you start, and answers to common questions.

In one minute
Medication is one of the most effective treatments for adult ADHD. It does not cure it, but for most people it makes focus, starting tasks and keeping emotions steady noticeably easier.
There are two main groups: stimulants (methylphenidate and the amfetamines) and non-stimulants (atomoxetine and guanfacine). They all work in different ways and suit different people.
We start low, increase step by step and check in as we go. Finding the right medicine and dose usually takes a few weeks to a couple of months. You stay in charge of the decision throughout.
