Focus
When you can concentrate too well — and how to get the benefit without losing the day.

In one minute
ADHD is not really a shortage of attention. It is difficulty steering it. The flip side of not being able to focus on the dull thing is being unable to stop focusing on the interesting one. Many people call this hyperfocus.
It can be brilliant: hours of deep, productive work. It can also mean missed meals, missed meetings, a 3am bedtime and someone at home who feels ignored.
You cannot switch hyperfocus off by willpower, and you would not want to lose it. The aim is to choose where you point it, and to build in a way back out.
