About Foundayo® Tablets
Foundayo (orforglipron) is a once-daily GLP-1 receptor agonist tablet developed by Eli Lilly for weight management, offering an alternative to injectable GLP-1 treatments. It can be taken at any time of day, with or without food, with no need for injections.
How does the Foundayo pill compare to the Wegovy pill?
Both Foundayo and Wegovy tablets are daily oral GLP-1 treatments for weight management. The main difference between the Foundayo and Wegovy pills is when and how you take them. Foundayo can be taken at any time of day, with or without food, while oral Wegovy has specific instructions around when it should be taken and requires fasting before and after each dose.
Why does the Foundayo pill offer more flexibility?
Foundayo is a small-molecule, non-peptide GLP-1 treatment designed to be absorbed directly by the gut, without the need for an absorption enhancer or fasting before taking a dose. Its small-molecule structure allows for high oral bioavailability, with studies reporting approximately 79% absorption. This helps explain why Foundayo can be taken with or without food and without the strict fasting requirements associated with some other oral GLP-1 medicines.
